History was made this past month as Indigenous leaders, artists, and advocates gathered for Indigenized Energy Unites, an exclusive event at the Reservation Economic Summit (RES) 2025. Hosted by our team at Indigenized Energy, the evening successfully brought together an inspiring mix of tribal leaders, energy innovators, artists, and allies to celebrate the urgent need for energy sovereignty in Native communities.

With an electrifying atmosphere, hundreds of attendees came together for a night filled with unforgettable performances, powerful discussions, and a shared vision for a sustainable, self-sufficient future. Featuring Grammy-winning artist Taboo, renowned hip-hop artist Supaman, and an honorary tribute to Nike N7’s Sam McCraken, the event blended culture, advocacy, and action into one dynamic experience. Other special guests, including Emcee One and actor Gary Dourdan, added to the night’s energy, ensuring that every moment carried meaning, impact, and celebration.

While the night was a celebration, it was also a call to action. The theme, "Indigenized Energy Unites," carried a dual meaning:

  1. Recognizing the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities throughout history.

  2. Emphasizing the urgent need for tribes, businesses, and allies to unite in the fight for energy sovereignty.

Cody Two Bears, CEO of Indigenized Energy, delivered a powerful speech highlighting the economic and environmental necessity of energy sovereignty.

“Our people know what it’s like to have their resources taken and their economies controlled by outsiders,” said Two Bears. “Now, we’re changing that story. We’re owning our power, creating jobs, and making sure that energy investments stay in our communities.”

Two Bears spoke passionately about Indigenous leadership in clean energy, stating: “Right now, across Indian Country, tribes are leading the way in energy transition. We’re not waiting for permission. We’re not waiting for someone else to come save us.”

As federal solar financing programs face uncertainty, the night served as a rallying cry to ensure that Native-led clean energy projects move forward—no matter what. “When we own our energy, we control our future. We lower costs for our families. We create jobs for our people. We build wealth that stays in our nations.”

Introducing the Indigenized Energy Podcast: Amplifying Indigenous Voices in the Energy Revolution

Adding to the night’s significance, Indigenized Energy officially announced its new podcast, “Indigenized Energy Unites,” a platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of Indigenous leaders, energy experts, and advocates working to reshape the energy landscape. The podcast will serve as an ongoing resource for education, discussion, and mobilization—ensuring that the momentum from this event continues to grow long after the final curtain call.

“This will be a place where we can keep this conversation going,” said Two Bears. “Where we bring in leaders, innovators, and community voices to talk about what’s really happening in the energy world and how tribes are taking action.”

Beyond the Event: Powering a Future of Indigenous Energy Sovereignty

The success of “Indigenized Energy Unites” was more than just a single night—it was a powerful step forward in a growing movement. The conversations sparked, commitments made, and partnerships formed will continue to drive action toward a future where Indigenous nations control their own energy destiny.

The work doesn’t stop here. Indigenized Energy will continue to:

  • Expand clean energy initiatives in Native communities.

  • Train and employ Indigenous workers in the renewable energy sector.

  • Push for policy changes that support Native-led energy solutions.

  • Use storytelling and advocacy to amplify the movement worldwide.

Two Bears closed the night with a powerful message: “We are not waiting. We are not asking for permission. We are moving forward together. This is our time to take back control of our energy, our economy, and our future.”

To everyone who attended, performed, supported, and helped bring this vision to life—thank you. Your voices, presence, and commitment to change made this event an unparalleled success.

The future of Indigenous energy sovereignty is bright, and together, we will continue to light the way forward.
