In-kind donation of 2,000+ solar modules equaling just over 800kw supports clean energy transition on Tribal lands.
BUSBY Montana – September 9, 2024 – Indigenized Energy and JinkoSolar are proud to announce a vital contribution to the Department of Energy (DOE) White River Community Solar Project on the Northern Cheyenne reservation in Montana. This contribution is a donation to Indigenized Energy of over 2,000 solar modules equaling just over 800kw. This donation supports renewable energy initiatives in tribal facilities and residential areas.
The DOE White River Community Solar Project is a $4 million project aimed at deploying solar energy across various tribal facilities, including a school, a head start facility, and a water pump. Additionally, the project includes residential solar projects in over 50 homes and marks the beginning of a residential solar program managed by the Tribe.
“We enjoy our working relationship with Cody Two Bears and his team at Indigenized Energy, who are doing a great job helping tribes pursue energy sovereignty,” said Nigel Cockroft, General Manager of JinkoSolar (U.S.) Inc. “This contribution is just the beginning, as we support tribal communities and help tribes become leaders in renewable energy development.”
"JinkoSolar has helped tribal communities before with a solar farm on the Standing Rock reservation," said Cody Two Bears, Founder and Executive Director of Indigenized Energy. “Native communities are now among the best places for solar development based on the new IRA legislation. We are thrilled to re-engage with JinkoSolar to build meaningful projects like this and future ones."
